Ten businesses. Thirty-nine websites. One decision to make.

Ten small, unglamorous AI-enabled service businesses were scored against twelve weighted criteria. Every one is built out as three complete website proposals aimed at three different buyers. The launch five below carry their original lanes plus new directions built in the design systems the owner approved. The queued five that follow them go further: a unique design system per option, fifteen distinct archetypes, no shared CSS.

Weighted ranking

Overall score from twelve weighted criteria. The spread across the top five is 0.51, which is inside the noise of a judgement-based score, so the ordering argues for sequencing rather than for picking a winner.

The five projects

Each has three website proposals. They differ in buyer, design language, hero mechanic and conversion path, not just in colour.

Rank 2 · recommended first

Unbilled

Paper work-order missed billables 4.02

Field crews write on paper; that paper reaches billing days later and lines get dropped. Photograph the work orders, extract every line, reconcile against what was actually invoiced, and hand back a re-bill packet. It ranks second but leads the sequence because its buyers are reachable through trade directories without an existing relationship, which is exactly what rank 1 lacks.

Rank 1 · highest score

Haulback

Dump-ticket charge packets 4.13

Turn weight tickets and disposal receipts into billable charge packets for roll-off haulers. Highest mathematical score of the ten, and the first choice if you already have a hauler relationship. Without one you are cold-calling a short, relationship-gated list, which is the single reason it sits behind Unbilled in the sequence.

Rank 3 · strong third test

Lapsed

Recurring-service revenue recovery 3.98

Service agreements quietly stop being billed: a visit is missed, a renewal lapses, a price escalator never fires. Read the agreements against the visit and invoice history and surface every silent gap. The stickiest of the five, because the work recurs by nature.

Rank 4 · good with partner distribution

Overpaid

Vendor-invoice audits 3.80

The same engine with the money flowing the other way: audit what you were billed against what was agreed, and generate credit requests. Reachability is its weak point, which is why it is framed for partner distribution rather than direct outbound.

Rank 5 · fastest to test

Cleared

Inspection corrective-action packs 3.62

Turn a failed inspection report into a corrective-action pack: the violation, the code cited, the fix, and the evidence a reinspector needs. Best speed score of the five at 4.25, and the weakest retention at 2.00, so it is sold on time-to-clear rather than recovered dollars.

The queued five

Ranks six through ten. Each is queued behind the launch trio per the scorecard decision labels, and each is built as three sites with a unique design system per option: fifteen archetypes, from a terminal log to a carbon-copy form to a civic report. Pricing on these pages is proposed pilot pricing, labelled as such. Current picks: Wetline for Flagged, Triplicate for Tagged, Reel for Televised. Filed and Scoped: all three directions approved, the lead gets chosen when that business reaches its paid test.

Rank 6 · easy launch, price pressure

Filed

Single-site compliance inbox 3.59

Every permit notice, inspection letter and renewal for one regulated site lands in one place, answered in plain words with the deadline attached, kept as the record an inspector expects. Second-best ease score of the ten, held back by how little a single site will pay.

Rank 7 · needs industry access

Flagged

Liquid-waste exception desk 3.46

Manifests, disposal receipts and invoices lined up load by load: hauled but never billed, rejected at the gate, short-paid against gallonage. Each flag returns with the paperwork to collect it. Starts only once a hauler or plant relationship exists, which is the decision label in one line.

Rank 8 · crowded, later test

Scoped

Guided room and cleanout scope 3.40

Photograph the room, answer six questions, get a fixed cleanout price in writing. Three very different buyers want that sentence said three very different ways, which makes it the widest design spread of the ten.

Rank 9 · sticky, maintenance burden

Tagged

Backflow test paperwork 3.39

Testers test, we file: the right form for the right purveyor, confirmations chased, device histories kept, next year's due list loaded so the retest comes back by default. Best retention score of the ten at 5, because the work repeats by law.

Rank 10 · technically heavier

Televised

Sewer-camera reports 3.29

Raw CCTV footage in, graded report out: timestamped stills, severity on a stated scale, a recommendation the homeowner can read. The trade calls it televising, so the brand does too. Lowest data-ease score of the ten, which is exactly why it is priced per report and queued last.
