Five businesses. Fifteen websites. One decision to make.

Ten small, unglamorous AI-enabled service businesses were scored against twelve weighted criteria. The top five are below, each built out as three complete website proposals aimed at three different buyers. Same business, three registers, no shared CSS.

Weighted ranking

Overall score from twelve weighted criteria. The spread across the top five is 0.51, which is inside the noise of a judgement-based score, so the ordering argues for sequencing rather than for picking a winner.

The five projects

Each has three website proposals. They differ in buyer, design language, hero mechanic and conversion path, not just in colour.

Rank 2 · recommended first

Unbilled

Paper work-order missed billables 4.02

Field crews write on paper; that paper reaches billing days later and lines get dropped. Photograph the work orders, extract every line, reconcile against what was actually invoiced, and hand back a re-bill packet. It ranks second but leads the sequence because its buyers are reachable through trade directories without an existing relationship, which is exactly what rank 1 lacks.

Rank 1 · highest score

Haulback

Dump-ticket charge packets 4.13

Turn weight tickets and disposal receipts into billable charge packets for roll-off haulers. Highest mathematical score of the ten, and the first choice if you already have a hauler relationship. Without one you are cold-calling a short, relationship-gated list, which is the single reason it sits behind Unbilled in the sequence.

Rank 3 · strong third test

Lapsed

Recurring-service revenue recovery 3.98

Service agreements quietly stop being billed: a visit is missed, a renewal lapses, a price escalator never fires. Read the agreements against the visit and invoice history and surface every silent gap. The stickiest of the five, because the work recurs by nature.

Rank 4 · good with partner distribution

Overpaid

Vendor-invoice audits 3.80

The same engine with the money flowing the other way: audit what you were billed against what was agreed, and generate credit requests. Reachability is its weak point, which is why it is framed for partner distribution rather than direct outbound.

Rank 5 · fastest to test

Cleared

Inspection corrective-action packs 3.62

Turn a failed inspection report into a corrective-action pack: the violation, the code cited, the fix, and the evidence a reinspector needs. Best speed score of the five at 4.25, and the weakest retention at 2.00, so it is sold on time-to-clear rather than recovered dollars.
